I don't even know where to start, I'm completely speechless!
After spending all day yesterday in the car, we were up late this morning.
Started the day with the world's best waffles at Lena's kitchen bar in SĂ€rna, after that we headed towards today's fishing spot.
The wind was persistent, and it was hard paddling. Missed my PA12 both once and twice, it had to stay at home to save space on the car roof. But I know my Jackson Yupik has good mojo in it.
Two hours passed, with only a small cut. Took me across the lake to rest a bit on the leeward side and quickly caught two smaller pike.
Just when I shouted to Daniel that I had found a fish, the rod bangs, properly!
Time to think that it's probably a slightly bigger pike, until it makes two quick rushes. Then I realize that it is BIG.
At 1.5 knots I go after the pike and pray to higher powers that it won't let go.
After four attempts at netting, she is finally in the net, OH what a fish.
Paddled in to the shore, because this fish could not be handled in the kayak.
With her 118cm, she pushed the scale down to a whopping 12.4 kilos!!!
