Two-way SMS

With a simple user interface through the Garmin Messenger app on your smartphone, it's easy to text with your loved ones over satellite or cellular networks.

Smooth connection

Optimized inReach messaging uses your smartphone's cellular connection when it's available, then seamlessly switches to an Iridium® 100% global satellite network when you leave the cellular network behind.

Group messages

With the Garmin Messenger app, your inReach device supports creating group message threads and sending group messages. So you can share your adventures with multiple contacts at the same time and send group messages to your loved ones.


Interactive SOS messages

If you're in an emergency, you can trigger an interactive SOS message to the Garmin IERCC, an emergency contact center staffed around the clock.

Flexible satellite subscriptions

Need a backup plan if the battery in your compatible smartphone dies? Simply connect the inReach Messenger to your phone and you'll have enough security charge to send a custom message from the inReach Messenger device via your phone's touchscreen.

Share your location

Share your location anytime with your loved ones back home via your MapShare™ page or your GPS coordinates embedded in the messages.

Flexible satellite subscriptions

If you want to use the global Iridium network and communicate with your inReach Messenger device, an active satellite subscription is necessary. You can choose an annual subscription or a flexible monthly subscription.

Extra long battery life

The Garmin Messenger app can sync with your compatible smartphone's contact list to make staying in touch even easier.

Inreach weather forecasts
